About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Coordinator Material Logistics to join the South Flank Shutdown team! The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This is a permanent position based on an 8/6 days only roster. 

Reporting to the Superintendent Shutdown Execution, within the Maintenance team your duties will include:

  • Review, validate and stage all parts / consumables ordered for the shutdown to determine correctness and serviceability (Fit for purpose) and for efficient identification and use during the shutdown.
  • Coordinate return-to-warehouse activities of unused / routable spares in accordance with 1SAP work management guidelines.
  • Coordinate and manage the installation, removal and ongoing upkeep of all amenities (i.e. crib room, ablution blocks) required during shutdown periods.
  • Coordinate the mobilisation, demobilisation and pre-site inspections of all hired equipment required to deliver a safe productive shutdown. (Lighting towers, generators, etc.)
  • Facilitate all inspections relating to classified plant required for hired classified plant (Cranes, EWPs etc.) 
  • Coordinate all waste management requirements (strategic bin placement, emptying) to support shutdown activities.
  • Assist in development of shutdown traffic management plan that will enable segregation of all vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Monitor and report all logistical requirements during the shutdown period and escalate any unplanned activities or performance related issues to the Superintendent Shutdown Execution.
  • Identify inefficiencies relating to logistical activities and work to remove such inefficiencies with the support of your Line Manager.
  • Regularly monitor area expenditure trends and apply remedial controls when deviation occurs
  • Active participation in all BOS principles.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Experience in a logistics role
  • All required site statutory competencies as referenced in the site health and safety management system and/or BHP Iron Ore policy. 
  • Valid Australian C class driver’s licence.
  • Telehandler / forklift licence
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment is essential 
  • Strong communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills
  • Competence with computer-based planning systems, such as 1SAP, Microsoft Project
  • Self-reliant contributor with distinctive proficiency in the logistics management environment. 
  • Previous exposure to the mining and minerals processing industries in a similar role is preferable.
