About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Management for Minerals Australia Projects (MAP) you will be responsible for a large team across multiple locations providing leadership and direction in the delivery of HSS technical and strategic improvement initiatives. This is a high-profile role requiring a high level of strategic thinking which translates into operational practices.

You will have the opportunity to build capability and capacity within HSS through the development, coaching and alignment of project delivery teams. The role holds the responsibility for the health, Safety and Security and Emergency Management strategic requirements and you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategies across MAP and integrating this into business plans.     

In this role you will:

•    Develop and lead a strong capable team across sites and sub-disciplines to deliver effective HSS services to your operational customers •    Establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders  •    Define and drive effectiveness and standardization of processes in partnership with your peers across HSS •    Develop and implement Minerals Australia Projects HSS strategy in collaboration with Operational and Functional partners, with a particular focus on Health & Safety  •    Support the delivery of Minerals Australia and Global HSS Strategy and key HSS priorities; •    Build HSS capability and capacity within project teams through coaching, mentoring and the provision of advice of HSS strategy, system and procedures; •    Participate in the governance of the HSS and Internal Audit and Assurance programs;  •    Define and track adherence to, and efficiencies in, relevant HSS Budget; and, •    Manage and support the execution of work that is the accountability of the HSS team    This dynamic role will support Minerals Australia Projects with a diverse and dynamic team and will cover projects across multiple commodities across Coal, Coppers SA, West Australian Iron Ore, and Nickel West assets.    

About You

You will be an experienced people leader with demonstrated experience leading a diverse team in the mining or similar heavy / manufacturing industry. You have a passion for developing others through coaching, mentoring, rewarding and guiding.    You will also have:   •    Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with a demonstrated capability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and community groups, at a senior management level.  •    Well developed professional technical expertise in one or more HSS areas •    Tertiary degree in a health, safety, security and emergency management or related field (or equivalent experience) •    Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of HSS related risks.  •    Experience in or knowledge of the mining and construction legislative environment would also be an advantage
