This role will be located in the city of Orange, NSW, supporting our Cadia Valley Operations mine site.

Who we’re looking for:

We're currently on the lookout for a passionate individual to become a valued, high performing member of our laboratory team here at Cadia Valley Operations on a 7/7 roster.

This position is an entry level Laboratory Technician role, and training will be provided. We encourage applicants from any background or experience level to apply.

The primary responsibilities for this position encompass (but are not confined to):

  • Demonstrate, support, and encourage alignment with Newmont values and policies. You’ll also ensure compliance with safety and quality management systems, policies and procedures.
  • Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, you'll be responsible for preparing and analysing geological and metallurgical samples, ensuring adherence to safety, production, turnaround, and quality objectives.
  • Perform duties including sample preparation, fire assay, wet chemistry, instrumentation and concentrate analysis to meet quality and turnaround expectations.
  • Perform necessary pre-start checks and daily/weekly maintenance on equipment/instruments to ensure they remain in working order.
  • Contribute to laboratory safety and production improvement initiatives.
  • The current roster for this role 7/7 - 12hr days only.

  • Capability to multitask and adjust to shifting priorities.

  • Strong communication skills
