About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Infrastructure to lead, mentor, coach and develop a team of maintenance personnel who are responsible for maintaining all operational infrastructure at West Angelas.

Reporting to the Superintendent Infrastructure and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will:

  • Ensuring all Rio Tinto health and safety standards, policies and procedures are being adhered to
  • Providing direct supervision and leadership to a team of trade qualified and non-trade personnel
  • Driving a positive safety culture through proactive, visible & authentic safety leadership
  • Fostering a team culture of continuous improvement and innovation including cost reduction initiatives
  • Understanding the team and their strengths whilst working with them to ensure that safety is first and that the correct work is completed on time & budget
  • Manage safety investigations; prepare reports and recommendations for the implementation of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Ensuring effective communication between all teams and support staff and communicating business/department priorities to the team in a timely manner
  • Constantly developing team capability through use of the performance review process and ensuring succession plans are in place

What you’ll bring

  • Proactive approach with a strong commitment in driving a safe working culture
  • A passionate people leader who will influence, motivate and be confident in effectively leading, mentoring and coaching team members as well as interfacing with senior leaders
  • A desire to build and lead engaged teams
  • Qualified Electrician with a current electrical nominee certificate and experience within the mining industry is advantageous
  • Experience with installation, testing and fault finding of submersible bore pump and generator installations
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation and standards
  • Provide adequate supervision of all electrical installations, maintenance and fault finding relating to infrastructure assets
  • A current valid Australian manual driver's license

Where you’ll be working

Located 110km west of Newman, West Angelas operates on a fly in fly out roster from Perth, Broome and Busselton.

West Angelas is a pioneer in autonomous technologies – we were the first site to trial autonomous haul trucks and incorporate autonomous drilling into our operations in 2008, and we continue to have one of the largest mining fleets in the Pilbara.

Our high grade, low phosphorous Marra Mamba orebody is an integral part of the Pilbara Blend, contributing both lump and fines products on around four trains each day. At the West Angelas hub there are state-of-the-art power generation and refueling facilities. These facilities supply power and diesel fuel to the East Pilbara mine sites.

The future is bright at West Angelas with ongoing growth projects at Deposits C and D, as well as additional deposits under study providing enormous opportunities for personal development and career growth.
