About the role
We are looking for a senior Business Intelligence professional with a love of data and product delivery, as well as curiosity about what makes people tick, to join the global People Data and Insights team for a 12-month fixed-term opportunity.
This is a great opportunity for a seasoned BI Developer/Analytics professional to help contribute to our HR Analytics division as they embark on exciting projects across the globe with a focus on Talent insights.

Reporting to the People Insights Manager and working in a collaborative community within People Data and Insights division, you will:
Develop analytics and reporting products using best practice data platforms and tools including PowerBI, DataBricks, Python, R, SQL, etc.
Develop actionable insights for the enterprise-wide HR group
Troubleshoot business intelligence modeling issues and develop solutions
Work in a small team of BI developers driving HR process improvements
About you
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
Experience in fullstack BI development using various tools and technologies to create end-to-end data pipelines, data models, reports, dashboards, and interactive applications
Strong Experience working with PowerBI and/or other data visualization tools
Keen understanding of data transformation processes including data modelling
Excellent analytics and problem-solving skills
Proven skills using SQL Queries
Experience developing solutions in Azure Databricks, MS SQL schemas and models, ETL processes
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or related technical fields

Where you’ll be working
The HR function supports 46 000 employees in around 36 countries and operates out of three business hubs in Brisbane, Perth and Montreal. Data science roles have diverse, multi-industry backgrounds and comprehensive skills in the fields of data modelling, engineering, and visualization as well as advanced analytics techniques including machine learning and optimisation. These skills are used to turn data into information that can be used to make improved decisions that generate competitive advantage for Rio Tinto.
This role can be based in our Brisbane or Perth Hubs
