Principal Advisor – Integrated Risk Management Program

  • Coaching and supporting the 2nd line Functions in the development of their group controls and performance specifications.

  • Building and promoting the development of risk and assurance capability across the business.

  • Applying a continuous improvement mindset to streamline and accelerate the development of 1st line assurance plans in a sustainable way.

This role is based in Brisbane, QLD and will be offered as a Secondment (Internal employee) or on a Fixed Term Contract (External applicant) until the end of 2026

About the role

We are seeking a highly capable Principal Advisor to work closely with 2nd line Functions to strengthen our assurance programs across the business. This role is critical in driving sustainable, group-wide improvements in the effectiveness of risk assurance.

Reporting into the Senior Manager – IRM Program / Assurance Office, you will be embedded within the Risk Function, which defines and maintains Group risk frameworks, methodology, and reporting. You will work in close partnership with colleagues across the Functions, Product Group (PG) and Program leaders to:

  • Support the 2nd line in building and deploying group controls, performance criteria and verification guidance / activities.

  • Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives to simplify, accelerate and support PG’s in their 1st line assurance plan deployment. 

  • Develop change management processes that support 2nd line content revisions based on 1st line deployment feedback.

  • Work with the Program PMO and 2nd line Functions to monitor and support the 1st line implementation establishing reporting metrics that provide actionable assurance insights to the business.

About you

  • A strong commitment to safety—for yourself and those you work with.

  • Strong business acumen developed through diverse operational and functional roles, with deep familiarity with functional stakeholder environments.

  • Proven experience in leading complex change programs and applying best-practice project and change management tools. Operational experience in mining (underground, open cut) or minerals processing (smelting, refining) is favourable.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence complex stakeholder groups, including operational leaders.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences.

  • Experience managing program schedules, reporting suites, and interdependencies across workstreams.

  • A track record of fostering collaboration.
