3 Lines of Defence Implementation Manager
Coaching and supporting leaders and their teams in applying a risk-based approach to their decision analysis
Building and promoting the development of risk capability across the business
Inspiring and influencing leaders in the adoption and embedding of First and Second line of defence requirements from the recent refresh of the program
This role can be based in either Perth, WA or Brisbane, Qld as secondment until the end of 2025

About the role
We are looking for a 3 Lines of Defence Implementation Manager to strengthen our assurance programs across our entire business. Providing overall support implementing 1st Line assurance across our Product Groups and managing the Program Management Office (PMO) team.
Reporting to the 3LoD Implementation Senior Manager Southern Hemisphere (SH), you will be a part of the Risk Area of Expertise (AoE) who own Rio Tinto’s global risk framework and processes. Partnering with colleagues in the AoE, the technical Centre's of Excellence (CoE) and Product Group (PG) leaders, you'll leverage your exceptional stakeholder engagement capability, change management skills and project management acumen to deliver a sustainable group-wide improvement in the effectiveness of our risk assurance efforts.
Reporting to the 3LoD Implementation Senior Manager Southern Hemisphere working a Monday to Friday Roster you will :
Provide project management leadership to the PMO on the program.
Utilize operational and change management experience to:
Partner with subject matter experts and operational leaders across the business.
Develop new, refine existing, and influence the embedding of simplified Group-level risk assurance requirements.
Ensure consistency across the PGs for high-consequence risks.
Facilitate effective partnerships between frontline leaders and subject matter experts in the AoEs and CoEs.
Collaborate across program workstreams to identify and manage interdependencies between the program and broader stakeholder groups.
Contribute to the Group's ‘Best Operator’ strategy by enhancing confidence in the strength of critical controls.
Support the resilience of the business in managing material risks.
What you’ll bring
Strong business acumen developed in a variety of operational and functional roles coupled with knowledge of stakeholders within our operations, either through having directly experienced operational roles, or extensive time in the field supporting operational leaders.
Strong project management experience in using best practice tools and managing change programs
A depth of experience in mining (underground, open cut) or minerals processing (smelting, refining).
Strong stakeholder engagement experience with demonstrated experience partnering with complex stakeholder groups, including operational leaders
Engaging speaker and presenter, ability to translate complex topics into simple to understand messaging appropriate to the audience.
Complex program and change management experience
A track record of managing program schedules and reporting suites to support the success of such a deliver program
A track record of success leading high performing teams with demonstrated collaboration and influencing skills.

Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required to deliver project outcomes
