Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accountant to join our Team at MTW. This role will see a driven, enthusiastic and hardworking Accountant join our experienced team. This role is responsible for providing and managing both commercial and accounting services to support Mount Thorley Warkworth in achieving its business objectives. You will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking month-end accounting;
  • Capital accounting, analysis;
  • Departmental support; 
  • Ensuring site, corporate and financial reporting requirements are met.

Skills and Experience

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

•    3+ years Accounting experience; •    Highly developed verbal and written communication skills; •    Degree qualified (Accounting or Commerce); •    CPA/CA qualification or currently studying towards; •    Problem solving skills; •    Demonstrated advanced computer literacy and a strong attention to detail; •    Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate and manage competing priorities within set deadlines; •    Competent in SAP accounting processes.
