Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accountant to join our Team at MTW for a 12-month fixed term contract. This role will see a driven, enthusiastic and hardworking Accountant join our experienced team.
This role is responsible for partnering with the operational departments to Mount Thorley Warkworth. You will play an integral role in preparing and reviewing management accounts, supporting capital lifecycle processes, fixed asset register, annual budget development, cost reviews and other analysis across the operation.
Skills and Experience
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- 1 - 2+ years accounting experience;
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills;
- Degree qualified (Accounting or Commerce);
- CPA/CA designation or currently studying towards;
- Able to apply problem solving techniques to accounting functions;
- Demonstrated advanced computer literacy and a strong attention to detail;
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate and manage competing priorities within set deadlines;
- Competent in SAP accounting processes;
