Accountant - Assistant

About this Role
An opportunity to make a significant contribution to this highly specialised finance team to ensure our business and stakeholders are supported. This position offers great variety and will rotate through various roles to assist the mine accountants, revenue accounting and potentially other functions in the Newcastle office. It would be an ideal first move out of a chartered practice, or for a corporate accountant with some postgraduate experience.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and enter journals into the ERP ledger system
• Assist with all accounting and financial reporting, including monthly mine site reporting and any ad-hoc reporting and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support audit requirements for multiple mines during hard close, half and full year audit processes, and joint venture accounting and reporting.
• Provide coverage/support to the Mine Accounting and Revenue Accounting teams.
• Develop expertise in Pulse (ERP) and TM1 (BI software).

What You’ll Bring
To be successful in the role you will be dynamic, driven, energetic and have a positive attitude and bring with you;

• Bachelor of Commerce / Accounting / Business or related field.
• CPA or CA membership, or intention to progress towards membership.
• 1-3 years management accounting experience
• Systems experience (TM1, Planning Analytics, Pulse Mining ERP are desirable but not essential).
• You display a ‘growth mindset’ and have a strong desire to learn and improve
