About the role:  We are currently seeking a Operations Accountant in South Brisbane at head office.

Reporting to the Snr Manager Operations Accountant, the scope of your role will be to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the accounting records for various mining operations and provide additional support as required to the Senior Operations Accountant and Senior Manager Operations Accounting.

Duties will include:

  • Ensure compliance with all Peabody safety policies and practices.
  • Accountable for the financial integrity of the general ledgers and accounting records for various mining operations within the Peabody Australia group and ensure full compliance with US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Assistance with monthly joint venture accounting and reporting.
  • Assistance with maintenance of fixed asset registers, including capitalisations and disposals.
  • Assistance with invoicing including intercompany and external invoice preparation and issuance.
  • Regular communication with mine site personnel as well as other departments within the Brisbane and US offices. 

The lifestyle: This role is available on a Monday to Friday basis with flexible work arrangements and the option of early finishes on a Friday, all year around.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Accounting
  • CA / CPA Qualification or near completion
  • Proven experience working as an Accountant in a Professional Services firm or in Commercial accounting roles
  • General understanding of US GAAP and IFRS principles
  • Ability to manage internal and external relationships through effective verbal and written communication
  • Strong excel skills advantageous
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills to quickly and effectively resolve issues 
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail.
