Administration Officer – Yarwun

  • 3 Days Part Time (Wed/Thur/Fri)
  • Initially a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract (With the potential to extend)
  • Site based role, supporting the RMA team at Yarwun Alumina Refinery

We currently have a Part Time opportunity for an Administration Officer to provide effective support to the RMA (Residue Management Area) team at the Yarwun Alumina Refinery in Gladstone.

Supporting the team 3 days per week (Wed/Thur/Fri) you will report into the Manager – RMA, where you will have accountability to:

  • Work with the RMA team to provide administrative support and document control activities as required
  • Use various software applications to complete presentations, agendas, minutes, ordering of equipment and materials, planning travel, tracking expenses, coordinating meetings, managing calendars
  • Actively engage with the broader site administration team to plan, schedule and deliver site-based activities as required
  • Manage end to end service requests for stakeholders ie RTTMS tickets
  • Preparation and tracking for monthly reports, HSE meetings, dashboard management, Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), Process Safety activity tracking
  • Supporting and/or leading special projects as required
  • Manage RMA Wall Raise project document control activities, including but not limited to document transmittal and filing, attending project meetings and taking minutes.
  • Effectively handover work and ensure a smooth transition between incumbents for this role

About you

To succeed in this role, it is preferred that you will have;

  • Proficient in use of varied software systems
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a shared role
  • Good stakeholder management skills

Rio Tinto Aluminium – Yarwun Operations

With production beginning in 2004 at our Yarwun alumina refinery, located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Gladstone in Central Queensland, today the operation produces more than three million tonnes of alumina per year.

Around 700 people support the operation, with an additional 350 contractors on site each year as part of scheduled maintenance shutdown activities. Thanks to its ‘Industry 4.0’ focus, Yarwun is also a leader in trialing new technologies to improve operations on site, including 3D printing, robotics and drones in confined spaces, and is home to Rio Tinto’s innovative Queensland Research and Development Centre (QRDC).
