We have a fantastic opportunity for an Administration Officer to join the RMA (Residue Management Area) team at the Yarwun Alumina Refinery in Gladstone. In this role you will provide administrative support for the RMA team as well as complete document control activities for a major site project. 

You will report into the Manager – RMA, where you will be required to:

  • Provide efficient administrative support for the RMA leadership team which could include:
    • Management of calendars
    • Travel arrangements
    • Credit card reconciliations and expense tracking
    • Meeting preparation, scheduling and action taking
    • Supporting development of presentations
    • Executing reports and preparing data for various monthly reports, action tracking, HSE data
    • Scheduling and organising visits
  • Ordering and management of office consumables stock levels
  • Ordering PPE and supporting onboarding activities for new starters as needed
  • Co-ordination of area specific events such as recognition activities, strategy sessions either on or off site
  • Stakeholder engagement with internal and external partners 
  • Active engagement with the broader Yarwun Refinery administration team to plan, schedule and deliver site based activities as required such as Service Award Functions, End of Year Celebrations, Site Business Briefing sessions
  • Manage RMA project document control activities, including but not limited to document transmittal and filing, attending project meetings, taking minutes, reporting data
  • Supporting and/or leading role specific projects as required

What you will bring

To succeed in this role, it is preferred that you will have;

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Experience providing administrative support in a large, complex business
  • Effective and efficient processes for managing document control for medium to large projects 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to problem solve, prioritise, multi task and have a flexible working approach
  • Good stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient MS office skills including MS Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams
  • Strong computer literacy with the ability to quickly learn new systems and applications

Where you will be working – Rio Tinto Aluminium - Yarwun Operations

With production beginning in 2004 at our Yarwun alumina refinery, located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Gladstone in Central Queensland, today the operation produces more than three million tonnes of alumina per year.

Around 700 people support the operation, with an additional 350 contractors on site each year as part of scheduled maintenance shutdown activities. Thanks to its ‘Industry 4.0’ focus, Yarwun is also a leader in trialing new technologies to improve operations on site, including 3D printing, robotics and drones in confined spaces, and is home to Rio Tinto’s innovative Queensland Research and Development Centre (QRDC).
