In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet
Based at our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the Green Fleet Head of Portfolio Delivery, we are presently looking for an Advanced Aftermarket Manager. The strategically important role will work in partnership with the broader team to develop the aftermarket strategy and associated organisation, supporting GreenFleet products in design for maintenance, deployment, in service support, through to disposal (recycling, repurposing etc). This is a senior role in the business, whose remit is to deliver best in class customer experience, working with the commercial team to develop a profitable global aftermarket business, leveraging reoccurring revenue opportunities which come after the initial point of sale.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Developing the overarching strategy & associated aftermarket business models to support FFI machines & products over the complete life-cycle.
- Developing key performance indicators to measure and enhance customer satisfaction
- Developing and leading a robust reporting mechanism to capture OEM/customer concerns and disseminate through the business to ensure containment and correct actions are delivered effectively and the learnings incorporated in design for maintenance initiatives.
- Creating robust business cases for introducing an aftermarket organisation into the business, including (but not limited to) the repurposing and/or refurbishment of 1st life products.
- Identifying and championing the development of digital solutions for monitoring and supporting products in-service, exploring all subscription / license-based offerings which add real value to the customer proposition (e.g preventative maintenance push reporting to customers/engineers, diagnostics/reliability/durability/availability reporting etc).
- Ensuring the product reliability and performance is monitored via digital platforms and proactively working with the OEM/customer to maximise uptime of the products
- Developing and managing the product warranty process to ensure warranty provision is accurately calculated for financial forecasting
- Working with L&D to create a suite of product technical documents and training solutions to support OEM/customer with product service, maintenance, and diagnostics
- Creating an aftermarket parts function to support warranty, routine, and non-routine maintenance requirements
- Creating ‘partnering’ relationships and/or strategic alliances with key suppliers, OEMs, Customers and end users.
- Recruiting and growing the aftermarket team in-line with the approved business cases.
- Delivering a profitable in-service and end-of-life support framework for all products.
- Providing guidance and support to the Green Fleet Team & wider business for all matters relating to aftermarket / in-service support.
- Supporting the Portfolio Delivery Managers & Advanced Concept Manager with the development of the overarching business cases, including risk & benefits analysis.
- Establishment of fundamental aftermarket business process & systems, including identification of key milestones, deliverables, metrics & KPI’s.
- Managing the Aftermarket teams priorities, associated budgets, staff appraisals etc.
Qualifications and skills required:
- An experienced professional, with demonstrated leadership of a multifaceted aftermarket business, with proven ability to start from a blank sheet of paper.
- Engineering apprenticeship/engineering degree, preferably with an MBA.
- Minimum 5 years in aftermarket management in an operational demanding environment.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in delivering in-service/aftermarket support for large industrial machines & equipment (e.g bus & trucks, rail, construction, mining etc).
- Experience in establishing/negotiating SLA and Commercial Contracts for the in-service support of vehicles/machines/equipment.
- Experience in leading a team in delivering high standards of customer service
- Experience in leading a team in managing multi-site projects /retrofits and campaign work
- Experience in carrying dealer network viability studies and appointing competent dealers in emerging markets
- Experience in developing and managing spare parts and remanufacturing sales.
- Experience in developing back-office operational solutions.
- Knowledge of mining and heavy equipment (operations and maintenance).
- Excellent preparation of presentations – graphing, visual display of data and status
- Data analytics – able to run business cases, gathering inputs and running results.
- Working knowledge of management accounts and business case modelling.
- A proactive, can-do attitude, with extraordinary attention to detail.
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities with ease and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and adaptability to rapidly changing situations
