Title: Advanced Concepts Study Lead - HME

Work location: Perth based

Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)

In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) fleet. The FFI HME Portfolio is currently developing new technology products and solutions for our Absolute Green Battery Electric, Fuel Cell and Alternative Fuel operational needs.

Based out of our new office located in the Perth CBD and reporting to the Green Fleet Advanced Concepts Manager, we are presently looking for an Advanced Concepts Study Lead for our product development initiatives in the Mining sector. The role will be integral to deliver positive outcomes for the FFI Green Fleet HME Portfolio in partnership with WAE (Williams Advanced Engineering) Advanced Concepts Team and be responsible for Green Fleet’s HME portfolio related Advanced Concept (Pre-Feasibility) & Concept Analysis (Feasibility) studies.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Delivery of study activities encompassing the complete Program Lifecycle in support of Green Fleet’s evolving “machines & products” industrialisation strategy.
  • Supporting the HME Portfolio Delivery Manager with the development of business cases, including risk & benefits analysis.
  • Supporting the HME Portfolio Delivery Manager with the conversion of pre-feasibility studies into bona fide delivery projects; including the development of key handover documentation.
  • Coordination of the day-to-day study and pre-feasibility activities against the Study schedule, including the analysis, review and reporting out of results at key milestone events both within FFI and the broader stakeholder group.
  • Preparation of study requests and pre-feasibility proposals, including the development of study charter, technical requirements & specifications, timing/schedule, financial and work-split (RASCI).

Qualifications and skills required:

  • An experienced Study or Project Management professional, with demonstrated ability to lead through influence to achieve business objectives.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills to distil down at times complex and ambiguous concepts into clear and concise language that portrays the business value.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross functional, matrix style organisation.
  • Technical degree preferable (STEM or Operational management) and post-graduate management studies beneficial.
  • A keen interest in new and emerging technologies and complex electromechanical products such as power systems and battery modules.
