About the role

We are looking for an Adviser Geochemistry & QAQC to join the Winu Technical Team in Perth. Reporting to the Senior Geoscientific Systems, you will ensure geoscientific data collected in field work programs satisfies required technical quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising and supporting site team with sampling procedures of Winu drilling programs to ensure sampling is up to required technical standards.
  • Routine monitoring, assessing and communicating key quality metrics to ensure analytic performance of laboratory suppliers is maintained to a high standard
  • Being the key contact person for laboratory suppliers – perform regular laboratory visits to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Writing the monthly, quarterly and annual QAQC reports
  • Performing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) of field collected data to support Resource Estimation ensuring compliance with JORC and SEC requirements
  • Undertaking an independent umpire audit of the laboratory performance via inter-lab assays checks.
  • Supporting improvement of procedures and pursue innovative process improvements for data collection, processing and geological modelling to ensure optimum delivery of resource estimates to mine planning
  • Technically advise mentor and develop project team’s ability to accurately and completely collect and synthesis of all geological information, including downhole geophysical survey data
  • Show leadership in a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance to safety standards and procedures
  • Ad-hoc trips to Winu site

What you’ll bring:

You are passionate about quality and driven to improve processes and systems. You will have the ability to thrive in a team environment and build stakeholder relationships as well as be a natural problem solver and quickly be able to analyse problem and provide solutions

  • B.Sc (or higher) in Geology, post graduate qualification in Geochemistry will be highly regarded
  • At least 4-5 years’ experience in a geology-related field with demonstrated experience in geochemistry and assays data QAQC
  • Strong understanding of drilling and sampling techniques
  • Solid experience in exploratory data analysis and geochemistry modelling
  • Strong understanding of JORC Code
  • Collaborative approach to working and strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Exceptional organisation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer literacy and exposure to data analytics and modelling tools such as MS Office, ioGAS, AcQuire, PowerBI, Leapfrog/Vulcan, etc…

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Downhole geophysical data interpretation skills

Winu

Winu is a 100% Rio Tinto owned copper-gold mineralisation project in the Yeneena Basin of the Paterson Province in Western Australia.  The project is located approximately 130 km north of the Telfer mine and 350 km southeast of Port Hedland. Teams at Winu are taking an agile approach to greenfield project development and being innovative in the way we bring a mine from exploration to production.
