Rio Tinto Aluminium & Lithium (RTAL) is looking for an enthusiastic Adviser Geologist wishing to become a valued member of the team and to build a career with Rio Tinto.
We welcome applications from qualified geologists with relevant experience in the field.
Our team is based in Brisbane, but the role requires Fly In – Fly Out work to Weipa, Far North QLD and other ad-hoc travel during the year.
The role operates on a seasonal structure (dates may vary depending on weather and operational requirements):
Office‑based period | December – May
- Brisbane office location
- Monday to Friday hours
Field‑based period | May – November
- FIFO to Weipa
- 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster
This role is a great opportunity to develop your leadership capability and work on some exciting geology projects whilst being located in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Senior Geologist, you will be:
- Promoting a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible working culture, which will lead to a zero-harm workplace.
- Assisting in the design, implementation and management to deliver drilling programs.
- Supporting RTA Projects to evaluate the future exploitation of bauxite mineralisation.
- Assisting in the interpretation of resource evaluation information.
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will bring:
- A demonstrated positive safety culture.
- A degree in geology or related discipline.
- A passion for achieving technical excellence.
- Strong teamwork skills and an ability to communicate clearly and respectfully.
- The ability to lead a team of people in the field.
- Operational strengths (logistics, coordination, contractor management, supervision), and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and agile environment.
- Have <5 years relevant industry experience.
