About the Role:

We are seeking a Rehabilitation & Environment Advisor to join our Closure Readiness team. In this role, you will assist with all activities related to rehabilitation, land management, and environmental sustainability as we prepare for the future closure of the East Weipa and Andoom mines.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced rehabilitation and environmental practitioner to contribute to our rehabilitation and environmental projects, plans, and research. You will work a 9-day fortnight and report to the Specialist in Closure Readiness. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring that these sites are effectively restored, complying with regulatory requirements while promoting environmental sustainability.

Your responsibilities will include: -

  • Supporting the implementation and execution of various rehabilitation projects, including planning and execution of rehabilitation activities, rehabilitation monitoring, seed collection, remediation, topsoil management, and weed management.
  • Assisting in the planning, implementation, and execution of environmental projects, such as environmental monitoring, hydrological modeling, final landform design, and the remediation and restoration of contaminated sites.
  • Participating in and conducting environmental impact assessments, reviews, audits, and field inspections to identify areas for improvement and assess compliance with closure guidelines.
  • Providing environmental planning and advice per legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Managing crews, contractors, and consultants effectively.
  • Undertaking rehabilitation and land management activities to meet compliance and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes and meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Participating in reporting, governance, and assurance processes.
  • Exhibiting personal behaviors that reflect the company’s values.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Closure Readiness schedule.
  • Documenting findings and managing records.
  • Managing safety according to RTA systems and processes.

Qualifications:

- A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, , or a related field.

- Relevant experience in mine site closure, rehabilitation, and/or environmental management.

- Experience in contractor management.

- A strong understanding of environmental regulations and best practices related to mine closure.

- Excellent project management, analytical, and communication skills.

- The ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and engage with diverse stakeholders.

- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for land, water, and environmental assessment and data analysis.
