We are looking for an Advisor Contractor Management Systems – Shutdowns within our Paraburdoo Fixed Plant Shutdowns team.
Reporting to the Superintendent Plant Shutdowns, your role as an Advisor Contractor Management will be providing governance of our Contractor Management (CM) systems via support to our Contractor Representatives and the delivery of specific site or RTIO wide initiatives. Improving safety performance and productivity are inherent to the role through transformation of the contractor footprint & associated work scopes within rail. You will also provide support, coaching and mentoring in embedding CM business improvement initiatives across Paraburdoo.
Your focus and duties will consist of, but not be limited to:
- Provide support and advice to Maintenance teams to effectively manage contractors
- Coach and mentor, company representatives and contractors to ensure compliance with HSEQ, CM policies, processes and procedures
- Coordination of in-field causal audits and project audits of service providers against contract management governance for the division
- Provide support and advice in the development of new policies, procedures and systems related to contractor management
- Custodian of Contractor Management divisional metrics
- Participate in monthly, quarterly and other contractual performance reviews
- Liaison between Rio Tinto Procurement (RTP), our central CM team and execution teams
- Job pack compliance auditing
- Mentoring and development within the division to facilitate best practice contractor management
- Collaborate with other product groups in developing global best practices around Contractor Management
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with leaders and employees/ contractors

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, we own an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets: a world-class, integrated network of 16 mines, four independent port terminals, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure – all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand. We are one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of iron ore.
This role is based at our Greater Paraburdoo Operation, 6km out of Paraburdoo town centre
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Exposure to contractor management & coaching methodologies
- 2-3 years in a contractor or commercial / project role in mining industry
- Experience in a similar role and/or health and safety, commerce, project management
- Effective planning and time management skills
- Ability to communicate, influence & work well with others at all levels of the organisation
- A can-do growth mindset
- Good computer literacy of Microsoft Office software, in particular Word and Excel
- C Class Manual driver's license
