About the role
We are looking for Communities Advisor based in Paraburdoo to join the Pilbara Communities team. You will support the delivery of the Pilbara Communities plan within the Inland Pilbara region working with key community organisations and stakeholders.
Our approach to Communities and Social Performance (CSP) is to build enduring partnerships based on a relationship of mutual trust and respect. This includes the way we engage with communities and the steps we take to identify and manage social, economic, environmental, cultural and human rights impacts throughout the life cycle of our projects, from exploration, to project development, to operation and closure. Working in close collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, this role seeks to assist, coordinate and facilitate delivery of key engagement activities and projects across a range of areas associated with the Communities & Social Performance portfolio.
Reporting to the Superintendent Communities Inland, and working alongside a collaborative and diverse team, you will:
- Contribute to or develop with community partners and stakeholders, programs or activities, which address areas of mutual interest
- Manage locally assigned partnerships and associated commitments, including reporting on milestones, performance and value
- Support management of local Rio community grant program
- Contribute to community and stakeholder mapping and analysis, risk assessments and complaints/incidents management
- Support the coordination and delivery of community events and festivals, including internal and external communication
- Represent the organisation at community gatherings, forums and events
- Maintain formal records of community engagement plans, strategies, meetings and events
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- A degree qualification or working towards this in a related field such as Community Development / Community Services or broader social science degree
- Experience in stakeholder & community engagement, including developing and maintaining respectful and lasting relationships
- Excellent communication and writing skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Proactive and creative with the ability to think ahead
- Flexible and collaborative style with an ability to adapt to changing priorities
