About the role
We are looking for an Advisor Ecosystem Rehabilitation for a ground-breaking closure project where you will play a part in the co-ordination and execution of key rehabilitation programs, making a true impact to the successful rehabilitation and positive legacy of Jabiru.
Reporting to the Specialist Rehabilitation & Ecology, you will be responsible for:
- Performing terrestrial ecological surveys, including flora, fauna, and/or nutrient cycling monitoring.
- Contributing to data analysis and reporting project outcomes into technical reports, at internal and external stakeholder meetings, and more broadly across the Business.
- Assisting with the development and execution of research projects focused on sustainable ecosystem development, including optimising ecosystem establishment methods and management of threats such as weeds and pests.
- Overseeing the seed collection program, including maintaining stock inventories and future demand requirements.
- Supporting collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and traditional owners.
What you will bring
- Qualifications in environmental science, land management, ecology, botany, soil science, agricultural science or related discipline
- Experience leading monitoring programs and supporting research projects
- Quality data management and report writing skills (technical and plain-English)
- Experience working with contractors and consultants
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- A passion for frequently working outdoors
- Current driver’s license preferred
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience working in hot and humid environments such as northern Australian savannah
- Local flora and fauna species identification skills
- Experience using GIS platforms and monitoring systems

Who we are
Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) is a publicly listed company with Rio Tinto as its major shareholder. ERA, established in 1979, previously mined and produced uranium oxide from its Ranger mine in the beautiful and rugged Alligator Rivers area of the Northern Territory. The Ranger mine is located on Aboriginal land, surrounded by, but currently separate from, Kakadu National Park.
ERA’s production operations on the Ranger Project Area ceased in January 2021, with the major focus now shifting to the comprehensive world-class rehabilitation of the Ranger mine that will eventually allow it to be incorporated back into the Kakadu National Park should the Traditional Owners and the Commonwealth Government wish.
The Ranger Rehabilitation Project is the largest project of its kind in Australia and possibly the world. It is unique in that it is rehabilitating land in one of the world’s most culturally and environmentally sensitive locations, surrounded by the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park on the land of the Mirarr Traditional Owners, located three hours southeast of Darwin.
