We are looking for an Advisor Environment to support the closure activities associated with the Argyle Diamond mine. You will work closely with site teams by implementing and coordinating programmes and ensure the delivery of key environment department and closure execution projects, systems, management and monitoring plans.

Reporting to the HSE Superintendent and working collaboratively with the Area Manager Environment this role is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Implementation of all aspects of environmental management plans, procedures, and monitoring programmes
- Communicates regularly with key stakeholders including site management, supervisors, contract partners, other Rio Tinto employees and external contacts within the community regarding environmental targets, plans and performance improvement
- Manages compliance with Rio Tinto Health, Safety and Environment policies and Standards, the relevant regional statutes and Health, Safety and Environment Quality Management Systems
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with project personnel, consultants and contractors to ensure smooth implementation of site work and efficient report delivery
- Monitoring, data collection, QA/QC, data analysis and reporting, including database management and GIS.
- Develop and refine environmental procedures and work instructions
- Provide advice and guidance to site contractors and employees to ensure they comply with environmental standards, procedures and relevant legislation
- Manage, collate and provide environmental data, non-compliance information or other issues for regulatory notifications and to meet annual reporting requirements
- Adheres and commits to Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures
What you’ll bring

- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team (standard for all job adverts)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related discipline
- Mimimum 2 years’ experience in an environmental role in the mining industry or similar
- Experience in mine closure desirable, site based operational experience essential
- Experience in managing consultants and contractors to deliver large work programs
- Sound understanding of Geographical Information Systems and their application, preferably ArcMap
- Proven capability in the analysis and presentation of environmental data
- Ability to work autonomously with reliability and accuracy

Argyle diamond mine, which sits on the traditional country of the Miriuwung, Gidja, Malgnin and Wularr people in Western Australia, is one of the world’s largest producers of diamonds and the largest supplier of natural coloured diamonds – including white, champagne, cognac, blue, violet and the rare and the highly-coveted Argyle pink and red diamonds.
