Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore Operations are based in unique parts of the Pilbara Region in Western Australia. They provide a fantastic opportunity to work in proximity to Millstream-Chichester, Karijini and Murujuga National Parks, various Threatened and Priority Ecological Communities and a variety of Riparian systems. From turtles to troglofauna, these landscapes house unique species which call the Pilbara home, with our environmental professionals directly supporting the programs to monitor species and the ecosystems in which they live.
We are looking for a site-based Environment Advisor for Iron Ore Operation at Robe Valley. In this role you will partner with our operations and stakeholders to champion environmental performance. Reporting to the Environment Lead you will be:
- Partnering with Asset teams and stakeholders to support environmental risk management
- Implementing and verifying the business’ environmental management system
- Managing environmental issues, for example: fauna/flora, surface water quality, marine environmental management, groundwater quality, clearing/rehabilitation activities and hydrocarbon/contamination management
- Project managing contractors and consultants providing environmental services
- Providing environmental advice in the interpretation of legislation, acts and regulations
- Preparing and submitting compliance reports in association with our licence to operate
What you’ll bring
- A Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental or related discipline with knowledge of key concepts theories and practices related to risk management, State and Federal Legislation and environmental management systems is highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in executing work with a strong attitude towards safety and improvement
- Excellent communication and partnering skills with the ability to work independently
- Resilience and a dynamic approach to problem solving

Where you’ll be working
Located in the scenic Pilbara region, Mesa A and Mesa J mine sites make up the Robe Valley operation. If fly in fly out ex Perth is your preferred option, you will commute to our nearest airport in Karratha. Should residential be the right fit for you, the Pannawonica township region is close to the major centre of Karratha and is the perfect gateway for keen adventures wishing to have the likes of Karijini National Park and the Ningaloo Coastline on your doorstep.
