We are looking for an Advisor Closure Governance & Risk to support risk owners in maintaining currency and quality of risk information, whilst assisting leaders in using risk to inform business decisions. You will work closely with the Closure Risk Business Partners to support closed assets located primarily in the APAC and EMEA regions. You will also support the Closure Governance and Assurance team’s delivery of governance initiatives including support to the Closure Steering Committee.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Governance & Risk, you will:

  • Engage with Closure Leaders and Asset Managers to support initiatives associated with risk management and decision making, ensuring risks and associated actions are incorporated into annual and multi-year plans
  • Provide oversight and advice regarding the risk management process and use of the risk information system in supporting decision making and application of the global controls library
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular risk reviews with risk owners and studies lead, supported by the Risk Business Partners
  • Ensure the quality, currency and connectedness of risk and control information in the Risk Information System
  • Maintaining effective relationships with asset managers, risk owners, assurance providers and recipients across the business
  • Provide support to the Secretariat of the Closure Steering Committee in the coordination, preparation, and follow-up of material to be presented

What you’ll bring

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety or yourself and your team
  • Prior experience either in a risk governance focused role or mining operational/project experience within the environment, communities, or a site-based operational area
  • Relevant background degree in a technical or social sciences area would be beneficial
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, with Archer or Power BI experience preferred
  • Excellent project management, problem solving and organisational capability
  • Self-starting, proactive approach to developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships
