We are looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support and deliver H&S services at our Iron ore Greater Nammuldi asset. This is a great opportunity for an experienced and collaborative health and safety professional to be part of the Rio Tinto HSEC Team.

This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis, FIFO from Perth, on a 5 /2, 4 /3 Days only OR 8/6 Roster.

Reporting to the Superintendent Health & Safety, you will be:

  • Part of a team of HSES professionals who are seen as trusted partners and who enable operational excellence
  • Providing advice and support with implementation of legislated health and safety requirements
  • Supporting Operational leaders and Contractor Partners to build their safety leadership capabilities
  • Delivering the annual H&S plan & supporting the implementation of the Safety Maturity Model improvement action plan
  • Embedding and sustaining critical risk management
  • Prevention of catastrophic events and eliminating injuries
  • Risk management and supporting material risk reduction
  • Supporting roll out of HS fundamentals initiatives, training and coaching programs such as Pre-start meetings, Quality Safety Interactions and Leadership in Field programs
  • Coach, support and influence leaders with the utilisation of safety tools and standards
  • Support assurance programs in place to manage our risk profile
  • Incident management including investigation, analysis, corrective action development and quality control of incident data

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A C class manual drivers licence
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Relevant health and safety qualification or demonstrated experience working in an operational health and safety role, coupled with a passion for, and sound knowledge of health and safety
  • High level of integrity and values based decision making
  • Ability to work autonomously is essential
  • Strong engaging and influencing skills, with the ability to proactively support leaders and to think strategically across the business value chain
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing competing priorities supporting multiple stakeholder groups
  • Excellent computer literacy including use of various reporting systems is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adaptability, flexibility & a solutions based mind-set
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Good knowledge and understanding of human factors

Where you’ll be working

This role is offered FIFO from Perth on a 5/2 - 4/3 roster and FIFO from Perth or Busselton on an 8/6 roster - to our Greater Nammuldi site based in the Pilbara. 

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, we own an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets supported by functional teams in the Perth hub: a world-class, integrated network of 17 mines, four independent port terminals, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure – all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand.
