About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent Fieldwork we are looking for an Advisor Heritage Liaison to facilitate and ensure the safe conduct of Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s cultural heritage survey program.
This role is a great opportunity for a passionate professional who love enjoys working in the field, has solid leadership and stakeholder management skills and able to bring all the pieces of the project together.
Reporting to the Superintendent Fieldwork, you will:
- Oversee contractor management for Rio Tinto’s heritage team survey program.
- Develop and maintain favorable relationships with internal and external stakeholders through strong engagement and communication
- Deliver in-field survey works
- Prepare, manage and implement initial response plans and journey management plans.
- Supervise heritage field survey teams (contractors & traditional owners) in line with RT safety systems and processes enabling delivery against the infield survey schedule.
- Maintain cultural heritage fieldwork equipment, assets, and fleet.
- Support social surrounds, archaeological, ethnographic, botanical, and other environmental survey works with Traditional Owner group involvement.
- Coach survey participants according to Rio Tinto HSEC and CRM procedures.
- Undertake critical risk management as a team leader.
What you’ll bring
- Experience working in a leadership role with good field safety knowledge and a passion for working with Traditional Owners.
- Capable to travel (up to 10 days at a time), work in the field, in the heat and undertake physically demanding tasks.
- Experience bringing stakeholders together to deliver on projects with excellent engagement and influencing skills.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Senior First Aid Certificate, 4WD accreditation and GIS/Navigation skills.

These roles will be based either residentially in Dampier or FIFO from Perth, both on 8 days on, 6 days off.
