We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Safety Advisor to join the HSEr team at Tropicana Gold Mine. You will be responsible for providing advice, support and services to the entire operation including but not limited to Underground Mining, Open Pit Mining, Processing, Maintenance, Business Support and Services as well as Mine Geology.
Coupled with a lifestyle balanced 8/5 4/4 FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie, the permanent role attracts a very competitive remuneration package.
Reporting to the Senior Safety Advisor, responsibilities will include:
- Providing a high degree of safety and health support and advice to the operational departments of the site including Mining- Underground, Mining – Open Pit, Processing, Mobile Maintenance, Drill & Blast, Fixed Plant Maintenance and Projects and Infrastructure.
- Demonstrate safety leadership and improve the safety culture through developing line capability in delivering their safety accountabilities
- Continually review, propose and where approved, contribute to the development of improved safety systems and procedures to optimise safety services provided at Tropicana for life of mine
- Provide coaching and mentoring to supervisors, employees and contractors in all areas of safety, behavioural and culture change, and leadership development
- Coordinate DMIRS communication via SRS
- Monitor action recording and close out from incidents, investigations, audits, planned inspections, safety meetings and conduct action verification to the required standard
- Complete internal OHS audits and participate in OHS internal /external audits
- Lead the safety interaction process for site
- Providing assistance and guidance in incident investigations, HSE meetings, safety inspections of equipment and work practices on the site
- Participate in high level incidents and accident investigations as required and monitor incident reporting
- Ensuring compliance with OHS regulations as well as company policies and procedures
- Leading, facilitating and participating in risk management processes for the Mine Site
- Assist in drug and alcohol testing
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in safety
- Strong organisation and computer literacy
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an OHS practitioner in the mining industry
- Minimum 2 years working in an underground mining environment
- Working knowledge of the Mines Safety Inspection Act and Regulations
- Experience in HSE management systems such as INX
- Qualification in incident investigation such as ICAM/Taproot
- Current "C" Class Western Australian drivers licence or equivalent
- A 'can do' attitude with a strong desire to succeed in the role and a passion for health, safety, environment
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and engagement skills
- Experience in delivering safety training
- Authorised drug collection officer qualification
- Internal auditor qualification
- Cert IV Training and Assessment qualification
- Provide a National Police Check
