Advisor Maintenance – Tampers

About the role

We are looking for an Advisor Maintenance – Tampers to provide day-to-day technical assistance, support and expert advice across Rolling Stock Maintenance. Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance, you will support the Tamper fleet and key internal and external stakeholders to improve performance and reliability. You will also provide critical support to the Track Machine maintenance team to deliver safe, effective maintenance outcomes and achieve system performance objectives.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance and working with Rolling Stock Maintenance, rail operations, engineering and planning teams, you will:

• Provide technical advice, coaching and mentoring to Tamper maintenance teams and relevant operational stakeholders.
• Perform comprehensive critical asset condition assessments and prioritise maintenance work using risk, cost and reliability considerations.
• Plan proactive inspection and repair opportunities that reduce downtime and operational impact.
• Coordinate small repairs and breakdown escalation when faults cannot be rectified immediately.
• Scope and monitor existing defects, supporting root cause analysis and practical corrective actions.
• Use SAP to support effective maintenance work management, ensuring identified defects, maintenance tasks and inspection outcomes are appropriately captured and progressed.
• Demonstrate strong safety leadership and ensure hazards, critical controls and maintenance risks are effectively identified and managed.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safety, reliability, cost performance and work quality.

Required for Success

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• A relevant mechanical, electrical or heavy mobile plant trade qualification, engineering qualification, or demonstrated equivalent technical experience.
• Demonstrated maintenance experience with Tampers, Regulators, rolling stock, rail maintenance equipment  or comparable heavy mobile equipment.
• Experience assessing asset condition, prioritising defects and developing safe maintenance responses.
• Working knowledge of SAP planning and maintenance work management processes.
• A current Western Australian C Class manual driver’s license.

Helpful for Success

• Leadership or coaching experience with maintenance personnel and contractors.
• Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, regulations and interface protection requirements.
• Experience with breakdown analysis, defect elimination, reliability improvement or small repair scopes.

Where you’ll be working

Our integrated operations, which include port facilities, ensure we can supply the right quality product to our customers when they need it. We blend our products at our own ports, which allows us to produce a reliable and consistent product. Because we have dedicated shipping operations, we are able to better control the delivery of product to our customers.

We operate four independent shipping terminals at two locations, Cape Lambert and Dampier, managed as a single port system. Dampier has terminals at Parker Point and East Intercourse Island, loading approximately three ships per day.
