We are currently seeking a Mechanical Advisor to ensure compliance with the new Work Health Safety Act 2020 for all registered plant assets under the Greater Brockman mining lease. This role will be the responsible person for registered plant across Greater Brockman and you will be responsible for overseeing all registered plant inspections, managing the inspection workload, maintaining the site registered plant register and ensuring 100% compliance to all inspections.
Reporting to the Senior Engineer, and working in a supportive and collaborative team, you will be:
- Managing the transition from MSIR/MSIA to the WHS Act 2020 for the GBO region
- Reviewing, updating and adjusting maintenance tactics in SAP
- Liaising and coordinating with different department planners such as fixed plant, mobile equipment maintenance and site services to conduct inspections on their respective assets
- Managing contract registered plant inspectors and their inspection schedule
- Liaising with Fleet Delivery, Sustaining Capital and site project teams for new incoming CP assets
- Maintaining compliance on statutory work orders
- Provide SME support with regards to registered plant assets such as cranes, pressure vessels, hoists and elevated working platforms
- Managing the itinerant registered plant inspection process, including ensuring the training and competencies are followed for delegated inspectors
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to safety of yourself and your team
- A comprehensive understanding of SAP planning and master data experience is mandatory
- Pressure vessel inspection – AICIP or API vessel inspector qualifications will be beneficial
- Crane inspection – Senior Crane Inspector <200T and CSWIP 3.1 will be beneficial
- Previous experience in leading personnel is advantageous
- Understanding of Australian Standards and regulations
- Strong computer literacy and experience in Microsoft’s suite of applications
- Well established communication skills

This role is for applicants residing in or willing to permanently relocate to Western Australia. Rio Tinto offers Fly in and fly out options from Perth, our regional FIFO hubs and the opportunity to live in our residential towns where applicable.
