About the role 

We are looking for a Mechanical Advisor to provide technical assistance, support and expert advice on continuous improvement practices across the fixed plant.

This is a great opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to utilise your expertise in machinery and equipment standards to ensure all compliance to relevant standards.

You’ll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on and 5/2 & 4/3 roster with flexible working arrangements which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life. 

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will:

  • Take ownership of the Critical Asset Management on site for Overhead Cranes and Pressure vessels (FP & HME)
  • Foster continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating, and implementing continuous improvement practices.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and technical support
  • Utilise SAP to ensure the correct records, tasks are assigned correctly and completed to the relevant standard/specification
  • Preform holistic critical asset condition assessment of critical fixed plant assets to correctly scope and prioritise jobs and determine repairs.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or Mechanical Fitter trade
  • Exposure to safety systems within a large mining company or structured organisation
  • An understanding of Australian Standards and regulations
  • Comprehensive understanding of SAP planning and master data
  • Strong communication skills
  • Minimum ‘C’ Class drivers licence

Located 50km north-west of Newman, Hope Downs 4 is a joint venture managed and operated by Rio Tinto, working in conjunction with nearby site Hope Downs 1. Hope Downs 4 provides excellent career growth and opportunities and the village provides excellent facilities for its FIFO workers.
