We are looking for an Advisor - Process Development to provide technical support to a variety of mineral and tailings processing studies.
This role is a great opportunity to join the Technical Development team and be a part of Rio Tinto’s growth pipeline, supporting the studies that will define our future operations. Reporting to a Senior Advisor, you will:
- Plan and schedule laboratory and pilot plant work - e.g. hydrometallurgy or pyrometallurgy test work programs or tailings geochemical characterisation programs
- Lead the work of technical officers and technicians
- Lead small scale projects (responsible for quality, HSE, schedule and budget)
- Design experiments and test methods
- Interpret results and link results to technical theory
- Apply technical problem solving skills
- Have an uncompromising focus on data quality and attention to detail
- Prepare reports/memorandums detailing findings and recommendations
- Present results and recommendations to project stakeholders.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Metallurgical Engineering or Minerals Processing Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or Biotechnology
- Several years’ experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Solution chemistry/hydrometallurgy
- Mineral (tailings) sample dewatering, shear rheology and geotechnical characterisation
- Strong data analysis skills
- Commitment to promoting a positive safety and collaborative workplace culture
- Ability to communicate in a clear and precise manner with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team.
It will also be beneficial if you have experience in some of the following:
- HSE leadership experience
- Good understanding of sampling theory and experimental statistical analysis/design.
- Process flowsheet modelling with either SysCAD and/or Metsim
