We are looking for an Advisor Production - Boilers to create and maintain a safe, predictable and stable operation by analysing performance and identifying improvements opportunities.

This role is a great opportunity for a performance and achievement orientated professional who excels with relationship management enabling you to influence and lead successful change in a challenging and complex environment. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent–Material Handling, you will be:

  • Verifying and improving operating standards, procedures and work instructions for bauxite, alumina, hydrate, caustic soda, process neutralisation handling plant and coal train unloading loading operations.
  • Benchmarking, monitoring and analysing the plant performance to ensure the plant is predictable, stable and consistently operating at target levels.
  • Generating practical, sustainable solutions to drive stability and/or lift plant capability.
  • Supporting implementation of solutions by facilitating the management of change process, driving accountability for the implementation plan and validating the project has delivered value.
  • Coordinating vessel loading and unloading activities and maintenance work to meet target completion dates and technical specifications.
  • Monitoring instruments and equipment and collects operating data including calibration, inspection, testing, etc. to assist in making on-line adjustments.

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualification (Bachelor or Diploma) in either Applied Science or Engineering specialising in Industrial, Chemical, Mineral Processing or Metallurgy.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement role within a port and materials handling environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Excellent relationship management, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • You will work well under pressure bringing a high attention to detail and the consistent ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • A strong understanding of safe operations and safe behaviour fundamentals.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Lean and Six Sigma business improvement qualification.
  • Experience with a Business Solution for example SAP.

Where you’ll be working

Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually. 

As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce. 

With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
