We are looking for a Advisor Production – Materials Handling to join the Materials handling Team and fulfil a key role in providing support to the Area Specialist and Superintendent. The Materials handling team focusses on Unloading of bauxite, loading of alumina, Unloading of Caustic vessels and unloading train services and other key strategic initiatives for the Materials handling.

Reporting to the Materials Handling Specialist and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:

  • Able to lead work groups to Achieve the Shipping schedule timelines.
  • Coordinating shift related production activities daily.
  • Managing the safety and quality aspects of the job tasks.
  • Update Superintendent / specialist of mat handling and Shipping of the day’s operations and track progress accordingly
  • Liase with process control to streamline and improve our current operating systems.
  • Need to be able to fill in where needed and demonstrate a willingness for a reasonable amount of overtime where shipping times need to be met.
  • Identify gaps, liase with Team leaders on best plan of attack for the day (resource levels, Permit responsibilities, Plan for the day)
  • Adjust max setpoints of the machines to optimise performance with each given skill level that maybe in the unloader at the time.
  • Attend meeting, raise notifications, and prioritise Maintenance concerns.
  • Weekly stockpile Pics utilising site drone resources

What you will bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • At least 4 years’ experience in Materials handling operations or equivalent.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Materials handling area, And their processes,
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work independently and in a team setting.
  • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to support in leadership functions of the team.
  • Willingness to become in field Assessor.
  • Active High Risk CB crane ticketed, highly experienced in unloading/Loading Preferred but not essential.
  • High level of experion/DCS knowledge
  • High level of coaching and mentoring ability

Where you will be working

Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually.

As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.

With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
