We are looking for an Advisor Project Accountant to join our small finance team based in our Central Park offices in Perth on a permanent full-time basis. In this role you will be responsible for completion of project cost accounting activities in support of Development Capital projects and studies.
Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Project Accounting your role will include but may not be limited to the following:
- Work in close partnership with project stakeholders to provide advice on cost accounting issues and ensure expectations are met
- Learn key standard processes and controls related to Capital Projects and assist with providing financial guidance.
- Engage with the Project team to deliver accurate and timely cost recording and reporting
- Display initiative in the role in areas of problem solving
- Demonstrate discretion with confidential and sensitive data
- Creation and ongoing validation of project WBS structures in SAP
- Monthly close activities including posting journals and accruals
- Managing the reconciliation process between Rio Tinto accounting systems and the Project Controls management tools
- Raising purchase requisitions and processing invoices in SAP
- Monitoring and managing supplier payment on time metrics contributing to group targets and initiatives
- Facilitate vendor recoveries in conjunction with Project teams
- Manage project cost closeouts and finalisation of all open commitments
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Finance and Accounting qualifications is desirable
- Significant and relevant accounting or cost control experience within a large organisation
- SAP experience is an advantage
- Advanced IT skills, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word)
- An understanding of end-to-end Purchase to Pay process
- Good communication and reporting skills (Status reports, fact-based analysis)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet business deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence outcomes
- Proven ability to work with a diverse and global team to achieve outcomes through collaboration
- Flexible and independent to take on new challenges in a dynamic global work environment

The role will be based at Central Park Perth CBD.
