Mount Isa Copper Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Advisor to join our team. Reporting directly to the Senior - Safety Advisor, you will become an integral part of a key operational asset in Glencore’s global mining portfolio. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa on an 8:6 roster.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Mount Isa Copper Operations critical control management system.
- Facilitating risk identification and assessment workshops.
- Promoting awareness and monitoring compliance to the safety management systems and processes.
- Working closely with leadership and workers to plan and implement safety and health improvement measures.
- Leading incident investigations and communicating lessons learned.
- Understanding of the Work Health and Safety legislation.
- Engaging the leadership and workforce in the ongoing improvement of our safety culture.
- Safety performance reporting.
About you:
- Tertiary Safety qualifications (minimum – Cert IV Work Health and Safety, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in OHS or related discipline).
- Underground mining experience preferred but not essential.
- Proactive approach to work and the ability to work across departmental boundaries and achieve results.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and an authentic commitment to improving health and safety outcomes.
- Highly effective communicator through all levels of the business.
- Practical experience in the field.
