About the role

Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.

We are offering people interested in connecting with Traditional Owners a genuinely exciting opportunity to join us as a Survey Engagement Advisor in our Biological Assessments team. This Perth based opportunity involves occasional site travel but there is flexibility if you want to spend more time on country learning from biological experts and Traditional Owners.

The Environmental Survey Delivery team has a really important role in the identification and preservation of the native flora and fauna in the Pilbara region, where our Rio Tinto Iron Ore mines operate. The primary purpose of these newly created roles is to build relationships with Traditional Owners and biological professionals and coordinate participation on biological surveys. This is an opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team, who can help you learn about relevant legislation, technical guides and how to apply them to Pilbara-focused environmental approvals.

Reporting to the Survey Engagement Specialist and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our State Agreements and Approvals team, you will learn to and eventually independently:

  • Undertake effective planning for Traditional Owner involvement on biological surveys, including health and safety, scheduling, site mobilisation and logistics for Traditional Owner Groups or participants
  • Collaborate with the wider Biological Team, Approvals, Heritage and Agreements Team in the implementation, development & improvement of policies & procedures
