Telfer Operations

Telfer is a Gold and Copper mining operation, with a rich history dating back several decades. The site encompasses both open-pit and underground mining activities, reflecting its diverse mineral reserves and deposits.

The Role

Reporting into the Senior Advisor- Technical Training you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and productivity of our team members at Telfer Operations. You will be responsible for managing training programs, conducting mobile equipment VOCs and collaborating with department supervisors to develop and monitor training plans.

Please note: this role will be FIFO 8/6 from Perth flying on Mondays- Point of hire will be Perth. 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Manage training programs and projects under the guidance of the Senior Advisor – Technical Training.
  • Conduct thorough training needs analyses focusing on safety and productivity.
  • Collaborate with department supervisors to develop and monitor department training plans.
  • Assist in designing and implementing training frameworks incorporating graphic design and instructional methodologies.
  • Develop pragmatic and accessible training solutions, continuously improving existing materials.
  • Maintain relationships with site-based contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Schedule in-house training courses and maintain a site training calendar.
  • Drive the development of a safety culture through all training activities.
  • Administration duties relevant to role responsibilities. This includes maintaining and updating employee records on the Learning Management System.
  • Conduct equipment VOCs in operational areas.

About You

We are searching for an individual who can make an impact, build genuine working relationships and has proven problem-solving skills with well-reasoned judgement.  Other key requirements for the role include:

  • Strong experience as a trainer, with proven delivery and practical assessment skills.
  • Background in mining or related industries.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Diploma in Training Design and Development
  • WA Manual Driver’s Licence
  • Experience in Permit to Work and safe work systems.
  • High Risk Work licences for LF, CB WP and current qualification to operate a Skid Steer.
  •  Demonstrated experience with SuccessFactors Learning Management System and MS Office suite.
  • Understanding of the Western Australia WHS Act (2020) and Regulations 2022 (Mines).
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. Excellent administrative and organisational skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
