We are seeking a motivated and inspired Treasury Accounting Specialist to join Rio Tinto’s Group Services function.
Reporting to the Manager Treasury Accounting you will be responsible for the internal and external accounting and reporting requirements pertaining to Rio Tinto’s primary treasury entities and related Holding companies.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Responsible and accountable for the delivery of the month end financial statements in SAP and in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) for Rio Tinto’s primary treasury entities and related Holding companies.
- Analysing financial statements in HFM to ensure output is compliant for stakeholders.
- Become an SME in the Quantum treasury software & management system and collaborate with Global Treasury for issue resolution.
- Applying hedge accounting to debt financial instruments.
- Preparing support and reconciliations with the objective of maintaining the integrity of the accounts and controls within those accounts including liaison with Internal/External Auditors to ensure a fully compliant environment
- Provide accounting support to treasury projects.
- Preparing statutory financial statements and financial reports.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance with CPA or CA qualifications.
- 5 years of experience in a similar role within a large multi-national, multi-currency organization
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with a good understanding of IFRS, with a focus on accounting and reporting of financial assets and financial liabilities
- Experience with SAP and HFM (highly desirable) and a high level of proficiency across the MS Office suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including variance analysis capabilities
- Treasury experience, especially with Quantum Treasury System and Treasury operations, is preferred.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a high pressure, multi team, multi time-zone environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and a continuous improvement mindset
