The role is responsible for championing the adoption of Agile mindsets, behaviours and frameworks throughout Technology and Autonomy plus the wider business tailored to each team’s specific needs. As an Agile Coach you will play a pivotal role in enabling leaders and teams deliver exceptional outcomes. You will have exposure to multiple in-train and upcoming projects. This role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of the Technology and Autonomy Agile Ways of Working Team at Fortescue serving the Fortescue Family.
You'll provide an in-depth experience as an agile coach, passionate about helping people working across teams. Coaching, facilitating and mentoring to apply agile values, principles, practices and frameworks. You will be pragmatic and flexible, acting as a change agent within the organisation, supporting teams organically and based on what they need. You must be able to work in teams who have never heard this language before but have a willingness to challenge how they work. You need to be in love with helping teams deliver successful and valuable outcomes.
Where we are now? Fortescue has teams with a real variety of exposure to Agile Ways of Working – from no prior knowledge to seasoned experts. We are supporting teams in their chosen ways of working which is largely scrum with some pockets scaling. This is a team we have been building since the start of 2022 and we are looking for team members that can help grow the positive impact we can have on the Fortescue Family.
Key responsibilities include:
- Act as an Agile champion, provide expert advice, support and contribute to expanding the understanding and practice of agile principles and values throughout the business including the identification of gaps in knowledge to improve capability.
- Facilitate an environment of team spirit and excitement around constructive changes.
- Provide ongoing coaching to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of Agile frameworks and process with teams and stakeholders, to embed Agile practices into the delivery of products.
- Focus on transferring new skills into teams to grow autonomy and accountability so that we as an organisation continuously focus on delivering customer value.
- Workshop planning and facilitation related to coaching and leveraging liberating structures, design thinking and lean.
- Contribute to the Agile Knowledge base, assisting to develop tools and resources to embed agile ways of working and improve awareness and capability across the organisation as a whole
- Support and encourage teams to minimise output and maximise outcome and impact.
- Help provide teams solid starting points which they can adapt, own and improvise upon to help resolve real time delivery problems.
- Identify transformation activities that will drive the continuous improvement of Agile adoption and success of agile practices and ceremonies across the team and organisation.
- Adapt coaching styles based on observed maturity and readiness of a team. Meet the team where they are at in their own journeys, being pragmatic and flexible.
- Manage conflict and work autonomously in any engagements ensuring a valuable outcome for internal customers.
- Support the build of a Centre of Excellence to support the Fortescue Family.
- Help develop and deliver the training program.
- Own initiatives from inception to delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Optional: Tertiary qualification in Computer Science/Information Technology/Human Centred Design/Coaching or relevant experience
- Minimum 5+ years Supporting and Delivering Products/Projects in an Agile way.
- Ability to handle highly unstructured work and ability respond to change (both internal and external) with speed and agility while ensuring rigour in how we execute.
- Demonstrated experience with Scrum, Kanban, Design Thinking and Scaling Agile methodologies and frameworks.
- Demonstrated understanding of a variety of Agile (and related) practices and tools, particularly OKR's, JIRA, HCD, Lean Understanding of a range of ways of working methods to help find the ways that suit the team and organisation
- An understanding of how to use your toolkit with both software and non-software teams
- Strong Facilitation Ability, including designing workshops
- Servant leadership skills
- Builds excellent relationships with diverse set of stakeholders
- Strong time management & organisational skills - able to prioritise & multitask
- Strong commercial acumen for what constitutes value-driven outcomes aligned to agile ways of working
- Agile Coach, Scrum Master, Product Owner certification
- Modular courses related to design thinking and product management
- Demonstrated continuous learning mindset
