The Opportunity - Permanent, Full-Time Position
South32 participates in many Joint Ventures across its portfolio, and Business Development is responsible for leading and coordinating the management of each Joint Venture that South32 is party to, so that our risks are managed, and our interests maximized, in accordance with company strategy.
The position of Analyst Business Development is responsible for implementing and governing the way South32 manages its Joint Venture interests. It will deliver this by establishing a systematic way through which JV-related risks, opportunities, rights, and obligations are complied with, including the implementation and management of frameworks, mandates, Group Standards, and processes.
Reporting to the Manager of Business Development, key role responsibilities include:
- Maintains and improves the Joint Venture Management System framework, including mandates, Group Standards, Approval Frameworks, and RASCIs
- Implements the Joint Venture Management System in consultation with appointed Joint Venture Owners and the Joint Venture Commercial Managers
- Governs South32’s involvement with key decision-making bodies and governance forums of Joint Ventures including appointments, revocations, and internal approvals
- Owns the Joint Venture Management System document repository where all key JV-related documents are stored
- Provides stewardship and advice to Joint Venture Owners
- Performs second-line risk management in consultation with the Development Risk & Operating System Lead
- Governs the approach to Joint Venture rights and obligation management at South32
- Owns and maintains training/coaching curriculum across South32 on Joint Venture Management System, including rights and obligations of individual Joint Ventures
- Demonstrates an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainability development
About You
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in business process improvement, transformation projects, management consulting, or commercial environments
- Exposure to the mining industry deemed favourable
- Strong experience in problem-solving, systems thinking and design
- Strong project management experience in similar transformation/operating model projects (covering process, technology/systems, people, and change management)
- Ability to prepare materials for internal approvals e.g., capital investments, and manage review and alignment processes
- Effective communicator in English and Spanish proficiency will be deemed favourable
- Demonstrated capability in current risk management/assurance practice
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a natural abundance of energy, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm
- Highly collaborative, builds trust and respect by always acting with high ethical standards, objectivity, transparency, due care, and professionalism
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, with the capability and desire to deliver “hands-on” support with your team as and when necessary
- Proven ability to work independently and unsupervised
- Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, and delivery focused with a willingness and passion to drive improvement and innovation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Law, Finance, Engineering, or related disciplines
Location
This role will be based at our office in the heart of the Perth CBD, however, are willing to consider other locations. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home).
