Analyst – Decarbonisation (Procurement)

Work Location: Fortescue Centre. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

Fortescue takes an industry leading position on reducing emissions by decarbonising our operations and working to deliver low carbon solutions and green energy products to the world. Fortescue’s decarbonisation strategy seeks to achieve the following targets:

  • Carbon neutrality across our operations by 2030
  • Net zero Scope 3 emissions across our value chain by 2040

An opportunity to play a key role in ensuring Fortescue’s ambitious decarbonisation and sustainability targets are met. These include the commitment to respect the human rights of all people with a focus on the eradication of modern slavery; decarbonisation of the supply chain to help achieve net zero Scope 3 emissions by 2040 and optimising supply chain waste management through circularity.

Fortescue is committed to sustainability in all aspects of its operations. We procure a wide range of products and services and recognise that our responsibilities extend beyond direct supplier relationships and down through our entire supply chain. 

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Support integration of decarbonisation and sustainability requirements into Fortescue’s source to contract process and systems
  • Develop and manage a suite of reporting routines relating to decarbonisation and sustainability performance
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on decarbonisation initiatives and sustainability matters
  • Work with key supply chain partners to improve understanding of value chain emissions and sustainability risks
  • Develop strong cross-functional relationships across Procurement & Logistics, Decarbonisation, Sustainability, Projects and FFI
  • Support the implementation of commitments made under Fortescue’s annual Modern Slavery Statement and Sustainability Strategy
  • Co-ordinate governance and verification activities to monitor compliance with Fortescue’s sustainability requirements

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement activities, in particular category or sourcing, with exposure to sustainability 
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to build strong and effective working relationships
  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and work with ambiguity
  • Demonstrate methodical approach, detail orientated and be a self-starter
