About the role

We are looking for an Analyst, Project Data Management to support our digital project delivery business transformation. Apply your comprehensive reporting design skills as we shape the metrics that will influence adoption of the new system across our business. As a concise technical writer, you will play an important role in the development of artefacts to support our refreshed control framework. 

The role is a great opportunity for a team player who has excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a deep appreciation of the importance of project data, document control and its influence on a successful project handover.

The successful candidate will be involved in the development of a suite of highly visible project reporting, which will be published across the Major Projects organisation. This requires capturing ideas from a global span of stakeholder requirements, analysis of all existing project data then filtering key themes to develop meaningful metrics. In addition, you will play a major part in developing content to support the drafting of technical requirements both as part of the project implementation and within our BAU project services model.

Reporting to the Manager– Project Data Management, you will:

  • Establish a comprehensive suite of Power BI reporting, which will embed the adoption of our new system
  • Support ongoing change management, communication, and training requirements.
  • Support the setup of the project through the establishment of appropriate systems to effectively manage engineering data and documents while also meeting complex project requirements to manage legacy data.
  • Undertake requirements gathering, create project documentation, embed RT standards and model best practice for project data management. 
  • Develop technical content for our data governance framework (major projects data control).
  • Ensure compliance with Rio Tinto Projects standards, relevant external standards, and Document Management and Control guidance in place on the Project.
  • Provide best practice knowledge in managing and processing project documents.
  • Provide a quality assurance function to the project in terms of data accuracy and compliance to company standards in relation to document management and control processes and systems.
  • Provide guidance and support to Project teams on best practice document management and control in accordance with Rio Tinto Projects guidance.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to ensure compliance to Rio Tinto processes and procedures.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Proven ability to analyse, cleanse, migrate and quality check project data within a controlled document management system and an uncontrolled SharePoint online platform 
  • Fluent in document management system requirements and the importance of good project data management governance and document control process 
  • Proven team engagement capability, with the ability to influence change 
  • Proficiency in Power BI reporting, along with the Microsoft Office suite 
  • Proven track record developing concise technical content, e.g. Executive Summaries, Memorandums, Technical/financial briefing papers, Steer Co presentations, Management reporting, communication campaigns and training material
  • Excellent collaboration skills dealing with stakeholders’ groups and team members
  • Experience in managing Document Control systems and processes
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced work environment

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience working at or supporting a remote project site
  • Experience in business transformation and change management
  • Workshop facilitation and/or management consulting experience 
  • A broad understanding of project management tools and processes
  • Knowledge of Document Management Project based software tools and systems
  • Knowledge of the SharePoint Online platform (inc. Teams) design and configuration requirements
  • Experience implementing process improvements

This role is based at our Mid-Town Brisbane City office. A flexible working arrangement is in place with a balance of office-based and work from home. From time to time, you may be required to work outside standard office hours to support activities across international time zones.
