West Musgrave will be one of the world’s largest, lowest cost, lowest emissions copper-nickel projects.

Our West Musgrave nickel-copper project is located on Ngaanyatjarra country, in the Musgrave Province of Central Western Australia, and includes the Nebo and Babel nickel-copper deposits and the Succoth copper deposit.
West Musgrave, which has a 26-year mine life, will be an owner-operator mining operation and in addition to being powered by ~80 per cent renewable energy, the Project scope includes a pathway to net zero Scope 1 emissions by 2038.
The Project will feature an Autonomous Haulage System and remote operations from day one and our workforce will be a flexible, technology enabled team supported by remote operations to improve safety outcomes and maximise opportunities for flexible working and diverse participation.

The Details
Reporting to the Approvals Lead – West Musgrave Province, you will support the Project capability required to deliver the West Musgrave project through the construction phase in support of OZ Minerals’ growth strategy.
Your primary function is to assist the Approvals Lead in primary approvals for the West Musgrave project. This is a pivotal role for the broader Project, responsible for leading approvals for both the core Project whilst in construction phase as well as approvals for our longer dates growth options (Province Studies). This includes the potential Downstream Nickel Project, investigating the potential for further on-site processing to produce clean green nickel products for the battery value chain.The approvals environment at West Musgrave includes a large range of different approvals, including but not limited to approvals subject to the Mining Act, Environmental Protection Act, Rights in Water and Irrigation Act, EPBC Act, and heritage legislation.

Key Responsibilities
This role forms an important part of the Social Performance and Regulatory Affairs team in delivering the necessary regulatory approvals to allow construction and future operations of the Project.
You will work as part of a team that works closely with the local community, undertakes stakeholder consultation and delivers commitments regarding regulatory approvals and the Mining Agreement. This includes:
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory approvals documentation and communications with the regulators.
- Assist with mine closure planning.
- Deliver management plans and procedures.
- Compliance reporting.
- Managing baseline studies to support approvals / operations.
Applicant Requirements
This role requires a self-motivated, hands on and values-based individual with a desire to deliver best practice outcomes with skills, experience, and personal attributes including:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environment discipline or similar.
- Experience in mining, environmental consulting, or related field.
- Strong background and proven experience in Western Australian regulatory approvals, including but not limited to approvals subject to the Mining Act, Environmental Protection Act, Rights in Water and Irrigation Act, EPBC Act, and heritage legislation.
- Advanced report writing, interpersonal and communications skills, and attention to detail.
- Proven experience in developing all required project approvals documentation.
- Experience in Arc GIS preferable.
- Being a self-starter with the ability to build rapport with teammates, contractors, and suppliers to develop optimal outcomes.
- Comfortable working across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Openly gathers and exchanges information and ideas.
- Ability to develop trust and confidence.
- A collaborative team member, supportive of team, peers and partners.
