Pit N Portal has an exciting opportunity an Underground Area Manager for our Kambalda North and South Operations. Reporting to the General Manager, Underground Mining, this key role will be pivotal in driving a ‘safety first, safety foremost’ culture within the Mining Division, and will be accountable for all aspects of project delivery, performance, and overall outcome.
Key Responsibilities
In this capacity it is expected that you will oversee all aspects of the Operating Projects within the nominated region as required to maximise safety, profit and quality including, but not limited to;
- Management of the PnP project and production works including
- You will be required to review the performance of personnel under your control and make changes as required
- Preparation of budgets, including manpower, capital justification and the collation of data on a systematic basis for progressive forecasting and future estimating
- Ensure the PnP safety management plan is complied with on site and positive leadership is provided. Additionally, ensure that all duty of care requirements is complied with as per the Mines Safety Inspection Act and Regulations
- Ensuring that all efforts are made to reduce costs by effective expenditure and reduced wastage. Cost control is to be achieved through
- Comply with all company and PnP reporting and contract administration requirements
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree or qualification in Mining or Engineering
- Highly desired 5 years’ experience in Area Manager / Operation’s Manager contracting role
- Extensive management experience within the mining industry with demonstrable understanding of underground mining conditions
- Demonstrated experience within a contracting environment
- Proven track record in managing and leading multi-disciplinary teams across multi-site operations
- Demonstrated commitment to deliver results
- Ability to manage stakeholders, in conjunction with company values and code of conduct
- Clear and concise verbal skills / proficient English reading and writing skills
- Ability to understand and interpret contracts and statutory requirements
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Maintain good relationships with other colleagues and clients
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Previous Underground Project Manager experience
- Ability to communicate with a diverse range of employees and clients and a hands-on approach toward team facilitation and conflict resolution
- A high level of flexibility to adapt to changes as necessitated by the business
- Strong commitment to seeking efficiency and productivity improvements
