We are looking for an experienced Area Manager to join Rio Tinto’s Argyle site. In this position you will be Accountable for delivery of the engineering and contract execution from scope development through to post construction handover.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced and established Area Manager & professional leader, This key role will see you leading a team and overseeing contractor delivery to achieve successful outcomes in safety, quality, cost & schedule. Achievement of these outcomes relies on proactive project management, leadership, and stakeholder engagement.

Reporting to the Project Manager Argyle Closure working a 2/1 FIFO Roster you will be:

  • Managing contracts, construction and engineering packages - cost and schedule performance, contract administration, engineering, quality and risk
  • Implementing, refining and improving project delivery methods and standards
  • Identifying and managing key project risks
  • Technical support to RT Closure. Involving high level stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Managing and developing the performance of a team of project Engineers in line with Rio Tinto’s company values, in order to achieve objectives.
  • Leading key projects & production improvement activities and cost reduction processes
  • Provide support and lead elements of project assurance activities
  • Role modelling collaboration to build effective relationships and drive productivity

What you’ll bring 

  • A strong commitment to the safety of yourself and others
  • Ability to promote, mentor and drive a diverse way of thinking
  • Previous experience in Leading project / production improvements and cost reduction processes
  • Significant leadership experience as an area manager or similar challenging operational role
  • Experience Managing contracts, construction and engineering packages
  • Proven experience managing a wide range of stakehokders in a time sensitive environment
  • Extensive experience in managing onsite construction Project activities
  • Contractor management and engagement experience
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives/projects
  • Tertiary qualifications within Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is desirable but not required

This role with be on a 2/1 roster FIFO from Perth to Argyle.
