We are looking for an Area Manager, Rhodes Ridge Early Tonnes to join the Rio Tinto Projects team to lead the development of engineering and execution planning for the Rhodes Ridge Early Tonnes project. The Area Manager, Rhodes Ridge Early Tonnes will play a pivotal role in coordinating with Rio Tinto Iron Ore teams, engineering partners and contractors to initially deliver the engineering and execution planning for Rhodes Ridge Early Tonnes Study and subsequently lead the execution of this project. Reporting to the Project Manager, Rhodes Ridge and delivering on business and delivery excellence you will:
- Manage assigned engineering packages through study phases from scope definition to detailed engineering with a schedule driven mindset
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation and improvement.
- Manage engineering performance and outcomes to support compliance with the RT Standards and internal project management frameworks.
- Lead engineering effort including engagement and management of specialist contractors and consultants.
- Lead the contract procurement process in strong collaboration with key contracting partners
- Monitor, manage, and report package performance indicators to meet business requirements.
- Lead implementation of engineering optimization through improvement processes such as Capital Intensity.
- Identify and mitigate key study risks and maximize benefit from opportunities to improve project outcomes.
- Prepare and coordinate study assurance activities including Stage Gate Reviews/Approvals.

What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team.
- A relevant degree or qualification in an area of project management, engineering, or similar field.
- 10+ years of experience in project management / engineering on large-scale mining or industrial projects.
- Experience in the design and/or construction of crusher and conveyors would be advantageous.
- Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience demonstrated through similar roles.
- Excellent management skills including the ability to set goals, manage time, prioritise, and allocate resources to achieve plans.
- Collaborative engagement style with ability to solve complex problems with stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
