We are looking for an experienced Area Manager to focus on the non-process infrastructure, electrification and rail components of large-scale, multibillion-dollar development projects in the Pilbara region. This role will see you working in a small, highly capable project team working through pre-feasibility, feasibility, and execution stages, with a key focus on decarbonisation and electrification technologies.
This is a highly sort-after and unique opportunity to contribute to electrification and decarbonisation in the mining industry whilst working for an organisation that has a track-record of success in new mining development projects.
Reporting to the Study Manager and working in a collaborative environment, you will:
- Ensure adequate scope definition of the area is carried out during the Feasibility study stages
- Manage the overall design development of the area in conjunction with engineering and design partners
- Manage deliverables through an integrated data model from study through implementation to final handover stages
- Monitor overall progress of the area both within the design offices and the site installation of the facilities within the area
- Assist with development of the study execution schedule and cost controls requirements for the area of the Project
- Encourage the use and implementation of new technologies such as data analytics, automation of facilities and productivity and maintenance optimisation and digitisation
- Communicate and manage relationships with key partners both within and external to the project team
- Ensure all necessary reporting is carried out in accordance with the Project reporting requirements and timeframes
- Identify and support the development of capabilities to facilitate and leverage the transfer of technical knowledge across the Rio Tinto Group.
- Maintain a wide network with external providers of equipment and technical leaders across the innovation and technology industry where applicable to the scope of this area.
What you will bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil engineering preferred
- Extensive experience in a Project or Area Manager roles within the mining or similar industries
- Previous experience with renewable energy, decarbonisation and electrification
- Exposure to heavy mobile equipment maintenance and/or operations beneficial
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaborative leadership capability
