Area Manager Operational Projects
Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
This position has responsibility for leading the delivery of Brownfield non process operational projects in the NPI, Civil and Mechanical segments of FMG operating sites including Solomon, Christmas Creek, Cloudbreak, Eliwana, Ironbridge and Port Hedland. The annual package is expected to be circa $80 - $100M per portfolio.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Lead a team through all project stages including feasibility, design, approval to proceed, execution and handover to operations
- Be responsible for the management and execution of the program utilising a variety of tools for analysis and modelling to develop innovative solutions to project requirements and needs
- Develop a robust portfolio schedule incorporating all projects with clear timelines for delivery
- Lead quarterly capital forecasting process for portfolio of Operational projects
- Utilise Earned value techniques to Develop an S curve for the portfolio of projects linked to Key dates, Milestones, Interdependencies, Work Breakdown Structure
- Focus on fostering strong customer engagement with site based leaders
Qualifications and skills required:
- Demonstrated safety leadership.
- 5 years experience in delivery of medium to large capital project portfolios
- High level Project management experience incorporating effective controls to manage cost, schedule and quality outcomes
- Tertiary Engineering Qualification in relevant field or significant work experience in a related field
- Post-graduate qualifications in project management would be highly desirable, or relevant equivalent hands on industry experience in delivering a large portfolio of projects
- Be able to work autonomously and within a dynamic team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative, be self-directed and work under minimal supervision.
