About the Role
In your role your primary duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct complex diagnostics and maintenance activities/repairs on mobile plant & equipment
- Work efficiently and effectively on plant and equipment such as autonomous Trucks and other essential critical Jimblebar Mobile Fleet plant/equipment such as Shovels, Excavators, Drills, Front end loaders, Dozers –Track and wheeled, Graders, Rollers, and Water carts dependent on the skills and experience of the applicants that present
- Follow specific maintenance programs and procedures and carrying out checks on equipment as required.
- Ensure accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required.
- Be comfortable in the use of computerised maintenance systems (SAP), including time confirmations, raising notifications and closing work orders.
- Take personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of competence without being supervised.
- Undertake training on a regular basis and provide support and coaching to work mates within area of competence.
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with rescheduling of work, organising and coordinating resources, scoping of work and determining priorities when required.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way.
Jimblebar & Newman
The role will be based at either our Jimblebar or Newman Operations mine sites in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The rosters are offered on a fly in-fly out, 8 day on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster at Jimblebar or Newman.
Jimblebar is an open-cut pit iron ore mine located 40 kilometres east of Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people. The rollout of BHP’s first fully autonomous haul truck fleet at Jimblebar was completed in 2017 resulting in reduced risk exposure to driving-related hazards, improved productivity and an opportunity for our workforce to gain new skills.

Newman Operations is part of Western Australian Iron Ore and consists of two mining sites in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on the traditional lands of the Nylyaparli people.
The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.
With relocation services covered by us; you will also be provided with significantly subsidised rental accommodation in addition to substantial power and water subsidies, allowing you (and perhaps your family) to establish a rural community lifestyle in the heart of the Pilbara.
About You
The successful candidate will bring:
- Australian recognised Automotive Electrician Trade Qualification (Heavy Industry)
- Current Automotive Refrigerant Handling licence
- Forklift and High Risk Working licence
- Strong auto electrical maintenance competency with sound diagnostic abilities
- Experience working on CAT Haul Trucks 793F Haul Trucks (desirable, not essential)
- Exposure to CAT Minestar Autonomous system (advantage only)
- Experience with Cummins & Komatsu (advantage only)
- Experience within Mining industry preferred, however agricultural or heavy industry will be considered
- Ability to work off schematic drawings
- Strong presentation, communication and coaching skills and the ability to work closely in a team environment
