About the Role

We are currently seeking highly skilled Auto Electricians to join our mobile maintenance team either Surface or Underground.  The successful individuals will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will demonstrate the following:

• Auto Electrical diagnostic process and experience in repairing of Mobile Plant Equipment (CAT, Liebherr, Epiroc & Komatsu - desirable);
• Experience on both trucks and ancillary equipment (desirable)
• Commitment to BHP Charter, health, safety focus, environment and sustainable development

Nickle West comprises three site options; Mt Keith (surface), Leinster and Cliffs (both underground)

Mt Keith | Surface | 7:7 Rotating Day & Night | FIFO

Mt Keith is a thriving large open pit site, mined for low-grade disseminated sulphide ore and expanding in both size and innovation.  Mt Keith is a social camp with excellent facilities & social events & quality food. 

Leinster & Cliffs | Underground | 7:7 Rotating Day & Night | FIFO 

Leinster & Cliffs are both underground mines producing our highest-grade nickel suphide ore, the key ingredient for the highest-grade batteries for the electric car market. Both sites offer a 7:7 rotating day/night roster.

Whilst Cliffs is an underground mine, the site presents with a surface workshop for those looking for an alternation of work on surface and underground. A close-knit team of experienced tradesman bring a wealth of knowledge to this site where the team are like family. Additionally Cliffs staff enjoy all the benefits of the Mt Keith camp, adding to the social atmosphere.

Leinster mine offers a recently upgraded world-class state-of-the-art underground workshop with two pits, automated truck wash, crane and an air-conditioned tool centre boasting 6000 tool hooks and a Milwaukee tool centre as well as all the modern fleet and equipment unique to the Australian mining industry which is without question a site to behold for those working underground. Management provide all staff hand-on development and career pathways at Leinster for those who are wishing to develop their career beyond their current role or skill-set.

The Leinster township provides services to Leinster staff offering all the modern conveniences beyond the eateries including swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and an 18 hole golf course.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following: 

• Auto Electrician Trade (Australian recognised);
• Current manual driver licence
• Experience as an Auto Electrician in a mining environment (desirable), minimum earthmoving equipment
• Strong diagnostic process and a methodical way of working
• Demonstrated computer literacy
• Sound communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work well within a team to achieve outcomes
